This video is just awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. How you repaired this old board, dealing with the fails and odds is just impressive – very dramatic. Please keep up this extraordinary work.
It happens to us all lol.The other day I was chasing a bad signal problem on my guitar amp that turned out to be a badly seated plug on my reverb tank.
How can I send my Star Wars boards to you?
Lots of work there Sean. Great work. Thanks for another fun Atari vector upload. ❤
Great video Sean, keep up the great work, Another one saved. Love Tempest, working on a set of boards.
Love watching your videos. As a tech noob like me, you're a wizard. 🙂
Tempest was my absolute favorite arcade game; a total blast.
Flashback to my childhood
A lot of work, but it paid off. Beautiful!
For the ROM revisions the original version had a scoring cheat and the attract mode ran a display routine that overstressed the monitor’s deflection circuits. In test mode, the spinner values are in HEX. Rev 2 fixed these issues. Rev 3 fixes the screen collapse between 1 and 2 players in 2-player mode.
I sure wish I knew the issue with my one main board on why the picture sags on the right..
For testing those chips you might want to look into the Retro Chip Tester Pro
You might consider obtaining a light up tracing pad (AKA tracing pad/tracing table – Usually about $20-30 on Amazon). It's a light source that is designed to under-light a drawing for tracing, but can also be used to help detect broken traces on PCBs, since the PCBs are semi-translucent, and the traces are opaque.
